Wings have Playoffs on Their Minds: NHL dot Com

The Wings are firmly in the playoff picture with the way they have been playing over the last month. Saturday’s win only fueled that.

“In their first game after the break, the Red Wings came back from a 3-1 deficit in the third period to defeat the Vancouver Canucks 4-3 in overtime at Little Caesars Arena on Saturday,” Cotsonika wrote. “It was the seventh time this season they had won when trailing entering the third period, and they did it against a team that took sole possession of first place in the NHL with a point.”

I said it on Saturday in the comments section of our recap, but I’ll say it here too — The Wings are doing something they haven’t in quite some time: They are playing for each other. It bodes well for the trajectory of this team.

Red Wings place Nolan Stevens on waivers: MLive

Stevens, who played a couple of preseason games, has spent time in Grand Rapids. With the way the Griffins are playing, they’re going to stay laser-focused on keeping young players in big roles.

Would NHL consider PWHL’s “Jailbreak” rule?: Marek

Interesting discussion being had about this. Honestly, I’m all for it. Here’s what Marek had to say:

“The PWHL’s ‘jailbreak’ rule has been a huge success so far. For the uninitiated, that’s where a shorthanded goal frees the player from the box — hence a true penalty kill. The jailbreak is mentioned on every broadcast, the players love it, fans love it and it makes for some cool visuals on TV, to say nothing of the momentum swings the rule brings with it.  So far we’ve seen four shorthanded goals in the league this season.”

Suspension looms for Toronto’s Morgan Rielly: ESPN

Rielly is likely going to miss some time after he crosschecked Ridly Grieg after an empty-net slapshot goal. It was a punk move by Rielly if you ask me, but you be the judge:
