Red Wings Acquire Defenseman Kyle Wood from Carolina

Steve Yzerman continued his series of non-blockbuster trades by trading defensive prospect Oliwer Kaski for a Kyle Wood, a defensive prospect from Carolina who is currently on their AHL roster.

Wood has been traded a few times now, but he was an AHL all-star in his first season, and this seems to be in the mold of Yzerman’s recent trades in looking for a player who maybe hasn’t gotten a chance to flourish yet. Of course the same could be said for Kaski. Time will tell.

Here’s a look at Wood’s numbers so far in his career:

Kaski was signed as an undrafted free agent this past off-season by Detroit. He never really cracked the Griffins lineup, so it’s not surprising to see him moved.
