Keys to the Game

Get the lead…keep the lead

Remember how much fun it is when the Red Wings are the ones doing the 3rd period spoiling? It’s not so much fun on the other side, and we’ve had lots of experience with that over the past few years. The combination of backup goaltender, although Niemi isn’t some random guy at least, and Tomas Tatar put the narrative against us but we* can totally do this.

*Dylan Larkin

Has anyone checked that the power play is plugged in?

The power play is bad, and it’s worse at home. You’re shocked, I know. Our injury issues does make it difficult to have a solid defenseman doing the defenseman thing of holding the line and setting things up, plus Rasmussen’s short time out, but none of that is much of an excuse for the poor performance.

Just pass some but not too much and take shots but not from random and bad angles when there’s no one screening the goalie and you’ll be just fine. Hire me Blash.

In Hockeytown, Goose cooks you!

It’s me, Gustav Nyquist Appreciator, here to tell you that Nyquist’s ability to set up plays is an underappreciated gem of an otherwise dull Red Wings team. Larkin is unbelievable elite amazesauce, but Nyquist is always right there helping out with perfectly timed passes or patiently waiting for everyone to get in their place before serving up the puck.

Larkin and Goose have worked together so well all season that splitting them up would be insanity so don’t do it Blash.
