Yesterday’s Action: What. Was. That. Seriously, how do you manage to collapse THAT badly? The Wee Wings took 3-0 and 4-1 leads into an eventual 10-7 loss at the hands of the Blue Jackets, courtesy of some baffling defensive play and a parade to the penalty box. I know it’s just two games in a prospect tournament that doesn’t REALLY mean anything, but the bragging rights from a winning record still would have been nice… especially for a crew that’s supposed to be one of the top prospect groups in the league. Today is the last chance for the prospects to make their mark… in this capacity, at least. A lot of these kids will get a shot at making an impression during Training Camp, but some guys as free agent invites won’t make it that far. Maybe after the last two games, that’s not entirely bad.
The biggest key to success today is going to be discipline. I wanted surprises and showcases and fireworks previous days… but today I’ll be happy with just a solid effort, no penalty box parades (from our guys at least), and a score indicative of some level of control in the game. A win would be nice too, but I’m not going to be much more upset if we go 0-3 vs 1-2.
Also, we have word as of late yesterday that Carter Mazur will miss this game as well. He’s heading back to Detroit for further evaluation, which doesn’t give me a whole lot of hope for seeing him during Training Camp (which starts on the 21st). That’s unfortunate, but it’s an opportunity for someone else to grab some attention. Next man up…
