TCPT: Day 3 Morning Skate & Open Thread

Yesterday’s Action: I’ll be completely honest with you guys… I’m not as cool as you all think I am, and I didn’t watch the Dallas/Toronto game yesterday. I was fully under the impression that it would be streaming from the team sites, but didn’t find a live feed when I checked the team pages. Any effort to find… not quite authorized streams… was beyond me and so, we are left with the recap from Defending Big D to inform us on who we should expect to hate in 2-3 years. It sounds like it was a solid shellacking of Dallas by Toronto, with the caveat that Dallas apparently sat some of its bigger names on the second half of a back-to-back.

Time: 3:30pm – DET vs CBJ

Place: Traverse City, MI

How To Watch: Streaming via https://www.nhl.com/redwings/ or team Facebook/YouTube pages

Rosters: Detroit Red WingsColumbus Blue Jackets

Right off the rip, the big thing for the Young Wings is Carter Mazur’s status. The forward was unable to finish Thursday’s game against Dallas due to a lower-body injury, and was getting evaluated (and a bit of rest) yesterday. There aren’t currently any updates on his status, but as usual we’ll do our best to keep this space updated.

Apart from that, it’s going to be extremely important for these kids to surprise us. That Söderblom and Tuomisto stood out last time isn’t bad, but I need to see a flash of SOMETHING from someone who isn’t either a high pick or one of the elder statesmen. That doesn’t just give the opposing team something new that they haven’t “planned for” (however much you can do that for these games) to consider during the game, it gives us hope that the Yzerplan has more pieces falling into place. And at the end of the day, that’s what the Prospect Tournament has always been about for fans – looking ahead to the future, and giving us a reason to be hopeful about what’s to come.

Again, please use this space as the day’s Open Thread. Thursday’s thread was a TON of fun to participate in, so let’s keep that energy going!
