Are We REALLY Still Behind Ottawa?

Since the DeBrincat trade, a certain Canadian fanbase has been almost as insufferable as the other two normally insufferable Canadian fanbases in the Atlantic Division. As Red Wings fans are well aware, Ottawa fans on social media are just about ready to hang a banner not just for the back-to-back wins against us last season but also for the Stanley Cup this coming season.

That’s cute. This kind of misguided optimism is the stuff dreams are made of, and I long for the day when Wings fans can be just as insufferable not only to the rest of the Atlantic Division but to the entire league (or maybe even moreso). I’m ready for us to have the kind of team again that Red Wings legend Daniel Alfredsson would believe in.
