Detroit Red Wings at Ottawa Senators Projected Lineups, How to Watch, Game Preview

7:30p ET, Canadian Tire Centre

Senators Blog: Silver Seven

Wings and Sens are right back at it with a rematch of last night’s tilt. The Sens really would have liked to have taken two points out of Detroit in their playoff run, but after getting one for the shootout loss, they hold a four-point advantage over Tampa with four games remaining. Interestingly, they are the one team with a negative goal differential currently in the playoff standings holding the one team with a positive goal differential out.

Personally, I guess I’m rooting for Ottawa to make it in, but it’s a toss-up for me between whether Tampa or Boston makes the other spot. I’d root for any of those three teams against the Leafs in the first round.

In the upside-down standings race, the Wings currently hold 6th, but are in a mess of teams that span from 5th (Dallas) to 8th (Florida, LOL). It’s possible that Detroit finishes above the Florida Panthers, which makes the Vanek trade funnier.  It’s also possible that both Vancouver and New Jersey catch the Wings to put them in third, but that would take both clubs winning out and Detroit failing to earn a single point in their last three games.

In all honesty, what I want out of this game tonight is one that’s as fun as last night’s.  Is it possible to get that while still losing in regulation to help the lottery odds? I don’t know; Let’s see. I’m not going to regret or feel guilty about having fun watching my team though.
