Detroit Red Wings at NHL trade deadline: Here are Steve Yzerman’s options | Freep

Since he was appointed general manager of the Detroit Red Wings in April, Steve Yzerman has made seven trades.

All of them have been minor, and only one can be described as having a significant impact on the team — acquiring Robby Fabbri, whose scoring instincts have earned him a spot as a top-six forward. Otherwise, Yzerman has traded for depth players in forwards Brendan Perlini and Adam Erne, and defenseman Alex Biega; the other deals have involved minor-league players or draft picks.

All the usual suspects are mentioned in the article above. I’m not expecting much, but I’m very curious to see what Yzerman can pull off for the Red Wings. We’ll find out just what kind of wizardry he’s capable of in a week.

Islanders acquire Greene from Devils | TSN

NEWARK, N.J. — The New Jersey Devils are turning toward youth by trading captain and defenceman Andy Greene to the New York Islanders.

New Jersey acquired prospect defenceman David Quenneville and the Islanders’ second-round pick in the 2021 draft in the deal on Sunday — eight days before the NHL’s trade deadline.

I wonder how many more deals we’ll see come together this week.
