Oh, for it to be October when the Wings were flying high and the Oilers were burying themselves in the ground… Alas, time marches inevitably on and the Wings host a streaking Oilers team with Connor McDavid trying to put up double-digit points every night. Buckle up, folks.

Those are from yesterday. With so many days off since our last game, there have been practices so maybe the boys will be getting a bit of a rest-up and later start today.
Keys To The Game
Don’t Hibernate. The Red Wings last played Sunday night in Anaheim. 3 days off is a great break between games, but they can’t get caught tonight starting the game like it’s one more day off. Take all that rested energy and explode out of the gate.
Keep The Streak Alive. The penalty kill is currently at an astonishing 100% over the last 6 games (20 shorthanded chances). I’m not going to be upset if the streak dies against Connor McDavid, but if they play with the presences of mind and aggression that got them to that point against lesser teams then I think there’s a good chance for them to keep it going. The flip-side of this is that it should help the team play more aggressively at even strength as well and take a few more liberties.
Play Like An All-Star. Alex DeBrincat needs to find a way to keep doing what he’s doing. So does our other Alex Kitty-Cat, the Lyon King:
