Game Day Updates: Sabres vs. Red Wings

Credit: Rick Osentoski-USA TODAY Sports

Oh look… Another “Biggest Game of the Season”

The NHL Wild Card race is about as close as they come — and Detroit only has five games after today to punch their ticket to the postseason. I say it every game day and I’m starting to annoy myself, but every point is pivotal for the Red Wings.

Buffalo is still technically in the Wild Card picture so we should expect a tough matchup for the Wings. The Sabres are coming off back-to-back wins against Washington and Philadelphia.

Michael Rasmussen is out today and it appears that Austin Czarnik will get his chance to play pivot for Alex DeBrincat and Patrick Kane on the second line. Not exactly inspiring, but the lines are sure to be blended up during the game.
