Game Thread: Flames vs. Red Wings

Coming off an emotionally rewarding 5-4 victory against the Chicago Blackhawks, the Detroit Red Wings host their primary competition for the final playoff position, the Calgary Flames.

The Flames come in having beaten the Minnesota Wild 5-2 on Jarome Iginla‘s hat trick. Sitting one point behind the Red Wings, the Flames are matching the Red Wings stride for stride. Rene Bourque has five points in the last two games.

Meanwhile, the Red Wings have taken off since the Olympic break, going 5-1. With everyone back (with the possible exception of Todd Bertuzzi, who left in the second on Sunday), the Red Wings appear to be as back as they’re going to be.

This is the third game of the season series: the teams have split the first two, with the road team winning both games. Puck drop is at 7:00 pm. Comment away below.
