Suffice to say, the primary goal for the Detroit Red Wings appears to have shifted from “win the game” to “do not have anyone else get injured.”
On a four-game winning streak and winning 15 out of a possible 20 points the last 10 games, the Wings will face the Dallas Stars with the small victory of getting Darren Helm back into the lineup, despite losing Henrik Zetterberg and Johann Ericcson in the last two games.
They will ride the hot hand of Jimmy Howard, who’s coming off his first career shutout Thursday night against the Tampa Bay Lightning as well as a penalty kill that has gone 34/35 over the past 11 games.
Meanwhile, the Stars come in as the kings of the overtime loss. With a league-leading 11 in 34 games, the Stars are two points out of eighth place in the Western Conference. Loui Eriksson has a five-game point streak for Dallas.
Puck drop is at 3:00 pm ET. The game airs on FS Detroit in Detroit and KDFI in Dallas. For an alternate view, visit Defending Big D. I’ll see you back here then.
