Keys to the Game
Win the Game Against Boston’s Top Line
Blashill will not get the matchup he wants often tonight against Boston’s top line. No matter who is out on the ice against Pastrnak, Marchand and Riley Nash they need to find ways to slow down that line. If they can do that they have a shot of at least getting the game to overtime.
Capitalize on Chances
As I said in the Morning Skate, Boston is a very good shot/goal suppression team. The Red Wings cannot afford to squander what few chances they get. They have to hit the net with their shots, dig for rebounds and find away to get a couple behind the goalie.
Speed, Speed and Speed
Boston is really good at many things, but speed is not one of them. This is one area the Red Wings can and absolute must exploit. But it cannot just be speed, it has to be speed with a purpose. They have to use it to push the pace when possible and being aggressive on the forecheck.
