Don’t call ’em the Phoenix Coyotes anymore. New ownership (again), new brand, new name for the stadium. This is a whole new squad. After Don Maloney is done, they really will be one. The ‘Yotes are bad this year and reports are they’ve been told to yank the rebuild cord. Shane Doan is still Shane Doaning it up out there, but pretty much everybody else is apparently on the block.
Of course you know this means the Wings are going to struggle, right? Meaningless Western Conference team that we’re supposed to beat but who wants to measure up with a good performance against the Wings. Heck, go ahead and make it a club that we eliminated from the playoffs two years in a row. These are all the necessary ingredients for the Wings to play down to.
But something interesting has been going on of late. The Wings haven’t been playing quite as far down to clubs as they had been in the past. They haven’t throat-stomped some teams than they should have, but the Wings have been finding ways to win.
I wish I knew what to expect. Let’s enjoy the ride. Have fun in the comments and let’s go Red Wings.
