The magic number for clinching the playoffs sits at two points. Any combination of Detroit earning two points or Ottawa failing to earn two guarantees them a spot. Winning tonight does it. If the Sens can’t top the President’s Trophy winning Rangers, we could back in as well.
Montreal is without their best scorer, but they have reason to fight for the win in this one. They’re two points ahead of Tampa right now, but can’t win the ROW tiebreaker if they get caught. They have a magic number of 3 for the Atlantic Division title, but Tampa is playing New Jersey tonight, so the Habs won’t be counting on getting help.
Things are getting tight around here. Let’s win a second straight game just for old times’ sake.
Have fun in the comments and let’s go Red Wings.
