Coming off their worst defeat of the season at the hands of the New York Islanders, the Detroit Red Wings come home to face the Carolina Hurricanes in their only meeting of the season between the two teams.
The Hurricanes are in last place in the league with 35 points, but they do come in with a three-game winning streak. They’ll need all they help they can get: the last time the franchise won a game at Joe Louis Arena was 20 years ago, when they were the Hartford Whalers.
Further, the medical staffs of Carolina and Detroit can swap war stories, with six Hurricanes on the injured reserve list.
