That’s right, your pal Sara aka @helmerroids aka the meme queen is back like she never left. Makes my goodbye post on the old platform seem a little dramatic, doesn’t it?
If you’re interested in some facts about me as a real offline person, here ya go. I was born in PA but raised a Red Wings (and Tigers) fan thanks to my dad who grew up in Michigan. I was a passive fan because I had no access to games (antenna TV and dial-up internet). Even if I could have watched games, I was always at practice for softball, soccer, piano, and every type of school band I could be in with a saxophone, mellophone, or french horn…
I really started following the Wings when I headed north to Williams College and suddenly had “real” internet so could listen to Ken Kal tell me what was happening and read all the blogs. I studied astronomy and math, my thesis was about baby stars (T Tauri) in the Orion Nebula Cluster. You’d think I’d be better at hockey analytics but I never said I was good at math. After college, I moved to DC for a job that had nothing to do with my studies, and am now over the border in Maryland.
Outside of sports and the internet, I have a lot of hobbies and Stevie the Yzercat to keep me company. I’m a chaotic gardener, mediocre pianist, good baker, adequate painter, terrible home-fixer, and D&D novice. I’m also bipolar, which is not a hobby, but it does influence my intensity and focus…
As a Pride Month special, I’ll share that I am asexual and aromantic. My character creator took all the points that would have gone into feelings and dumped them in meme crafting and tomfoolery. Having friends and family is all I need to be fulfilled and the Wings fan community has a lot of terrific people that I’m extremely grateful to have in my life.
Lastly, as most people on Twitter probably know by now: Yes, Game 7, 2009 was on my 20th birthday.
