The Red Wings take a trip to the West Coast and start a three game series against California teams tonight against the Kings. The Red Wings will be without two of their top guys though as Johan Franzen is home in Detroit awaiting (still waiting at the time I’m writing this) the birth of Baby Mule and Brian Rafalski will miss the game with back problems.

The Red Wings are coming off of a shootout win over the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday night while the Kings knocked off the Avs 4-3. The Kings are lead in the goal scoring and points department by Anze Kopitar with 20 goals, 40 assists.

The big news today was Jimmy Howard signing a new contract that will keep him in Motown for more years at $2.25 million per season. The Kings did some work of their own as they re-signed Justin Williams to a four-year,$14.6 million extension.

Stay up late with us and watch the Wings. Sleep is for the weak.

Puck drops at 10:30 pm ET and the game will air on NHL-N. Comment away below and LET’S GO RED WINGS!
