Predators Blog: On the Forecheck
The Wings are welcoming the Predators to Detroit. Good news for Nashville! Detroit just traded its Predator slayer in Petr Mrazek to the Flyers, so Jimmy Howard will be starting in net tonight. Makes me sad; I always liked Mrazek, and I remember getting excited watching him play in world juniors before he was ever a Wing or a Griffin.
No word on who is backing up Howard yet. The Preds licked the Sens 5-2 last night with Rinne in net, so expect Juuse Saros to start in net for Nashville. They’ve gone 6-2-2 in their last ten, which is good but isn’t sensational for a team that has, at times this season, looked like the league’s best squad. The Wings caught the Preds with their pants down on Saturday and took it to them to the tune of a 3-1 win. The memory will still be fresh for a very good Predators team, so expect Johansen, Subban, and friends to bring their A-game tonight to Detroit. It’s going to be a tough one.
