Game Preview

The Blues and Red Wings know each other well from their days as Central Division foes in the Western Conference. However, the move to the Eastern Conference has not been kind to the Wings as they’ve lost four of the last five meetings with the Blues.

Neither team is playing its best hockey coming into this one as the Wings have dropped three in a row — including a shootout loss to the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday night. Meanwhile, the Blues have lost four of their last five games to fall to 8-11-3 on the year and currently sit dead last in the Central Division — not the start they hoped for after many considered them a Stanley Cup contender to start the season.

Two players to keep an eye on in this matchup are Brayden Schenn — 15 points in 16 career games against the Wings — and Frans Nielsen, with 10 points in 15 career games against the Blues. The Wings hold the edge with a 123-115-37-8 record in 283 all-time meetings.

Lineup Notes

The boys in red and white were back at the practice rink yesterday after losing their third straight against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Monday night…

Jonathan Ericsson was a healthy scratch for the second game in a row (crossing my fingers that continues tonight) as Jeff Blashill stuck with Dennis Cholowski, despite cutting his minutes in recent games.

Martin Frk factored into the lineup on Monday, replacing Christoffer Ehn and looks on track to play his second game in a row.

Jaden Schwartz and Alexander Steen remain out of the lineup for the Blues, as they continue to juggle their top six lines in search of depth…
