Bruins Blog: Stanley Cup of Chowder

Welcome to another addition of Red Wings hockey. Tonight brings you a division rival in the Boston Bruins. I’ll give you the bad news first — they are a much better hockey team than the Red Wings. Okay, we have that out of the way, so here is the good news — the Patriots lost the Super Bowl.

(nasally Bruins fan voice from the back of the room): yeah, well how many Super Bowls have you won, idiot?

Not as many coaches the Lions have stolen from you.

Anyways! We’re inching closer to the trade deadline, which means things are getting more exciting for Red Wings fans. We’re learning all about who may be on the move. Recently, we’ve learned that the Predators are hot-to-trot for some of the Red Wings’ scoring wingers. But that’s not what tonight is all about.

The Bruins are the second-best team in our division — just five points behind the seemingly un-catchable Tampa Bay Lightning. They’ve stayed this way despite having a handful of players I have never heard of. The key to beating them comes down t goaltending. Tuukka Rask is piecing together another Vezina-worthy season.

The Red Wings are the faster team, easily. The Bruins have a top-heavy defense that can be lumbering at times. If the Red Wings can use this to their advantage, along with their not-so-terrible goaltending, they may be able to pull this one off.

Here’s a look at tonight’s preliminary lineups…
