NHL Releases National TV Schedule

You know we’re getting closer to the start of the NHL season when TV schedules begin to be announced. Today, the NHL released their national TV schedule, and to the surprise of no one, the Red Wings are one of the teams featured prominently throughout the season to the entire country.

While more national TV time means more Doc, Edzo and Pierre, the number of times a team is shown on NBC or The Network Formerly Known as Versus (NBC Sports Network) is directly proportional to their success and marketability. No surprise then that 12 of the Wings’ 82 games will be shown on one of these 2 networks this season.

Follow the jump for a listing of games where at least 25 comments in the game thread that night will be “I miss Ken and Mickey”.

First, let’s take a look at the Wing games on NBC (all times ET):November 25 – 1:00 pm – Detroit at Boston
January 14 – 12:30 PM – Chicago at Detroit
February 12 – 7:30 PM – Philadelphia at Detroit (note that this game is part of the flex package, and may be shown on NBCSN)
February 19 – 12:30 PM – San Jose at Detroit (also part of the flex package, and a game on Hockey Day in America)
April 7 – 4:00 PM – Chicago at Detroit

Next, here are the games on NBCSN (all times ET):

November 30 – 7:30 PM – Tampa Bay at Detroit
December 6 – 7:30 PM – Detroit at St. Louis
December 27 – 7:30 PM – St. Louis at Detroit
January 3 – 8:00 PM – Detroit at Dallas
January 8 – 7:30 PM – Detroit at Chicago
January 23 – 7:30 PM – St Louis at Detroit
January 25 – 7:30 PM – Detroit at Montreal
February 6 – 8:00 PM – Detroit at Phoenix
February 21 – 8:00 PM – Detroit at Chicago
March 21 – 7:30 PM – Detroit at New York Rangers
March 28 – 7:30 PM – Detroit at Columbus
April 4 – 7:30 PM – Detroit at St. Louis

For those keeping score at home, that makes 4 times the Wings will play the Blackhawks on national TV, meaning 4 times you are all likely going to have to suffer with me as we all hear Ed Olczyk call the game and try to pretend to be neutral.
