No Red Wings Hockey No Beer Makes Homer Something Something: NHL Playoffs Open Thread

The Dundercats and the Desert Dogs series is going as well as I could have hoped after two games. Nashville finds themselves down 2-0 after they switched off from their Game 1 strategy of outshooting their opponent and decided instead to try giving back goals every time they built a bit of momentum. That didn’t work either and now the series heads back to the Bridgestone. The Predators will get there as soon as the City of Nashville ponies up bus fare for it, I guess.

Two more Game 2s on the docket tonight:

Washington Capitals (7) vs. New York Rangers (1) – 7:30 NBCSN: The Rangers and Caps played a fairly tight Game 1 on Saturday night before New York was finally able to exploit some defensive breakdowns by the Caps and come away with a 3-1 victory. Chris Kreider is the new Pierre-appointed “fastest man in the league” while Dale Hunter might go back to the tried-and-true method of not letting his best player lead his forwards in ice time. Hopefully the teams can combine for more than 32 shots on goal this time.

Blueshirt Banter (Rangers)
Japers’ Rink (Washington)

Los Angeles Kings (8) vs. St. Louis Blues (2) – 9:00 CNBC: LA (hopefully) knows that winning the first game of a series against the Blues is only a good start and not a reason to lose the next four. Don’t let the bank-shot empty netter from Pancakes Penner fool you, Game 1 was a 2-1 contest just like everybody is expecting for every game in this one. Quick outdueled Elliott on Saturday night and Carlo Colaiacovo forgetting to play defense while on the power play sealed the Blues’ fate that night. I wouldn’t say expect a better effort tonight, as I think both teams gave plenty of that.
