To start off this entry of our predictions series selfishly, I’m much happier to be writing about Petry than about Lindstrom. A veteran of his pedigree is much more fun to weave a narrative about than a player who is optimistically slated to sit in the press box for most of the season.
That being said, I think a lot of us were surprised to see the news that we had traded the Sole Proprietor of the Lindstrom Lounge and Press Box (and a 2025 4th round pick) for Michigan State alum Petry. But the move actually makes sense for what Yzerman has been trying to build – a capable (even if not spectacular) defense with flexibility.
