There’s no denying it, Patrik Laine appears to be the real deal for the Winnipeg Jets. Laine continues to prove why some experts preferred him over Auston Matthews heading into this years NHL Entry Draft. Will Patrik have a better year than Matthews this season? Only time will tell.
In Red Wings Land
If any of the Detroit Red Wings young players are making the case to let the kids have more ice-time, it’s Andreas Athanasiou. AA helped Detroit break their longstanding winless streak in Philadelphia on Tuesday evening. Andreas’ performance against the Flyers generated some telling comments from his teammates, including captain Henrik Zetterberg:
“I don’t know how many times I’m standing here talking to you guys after a game and I’m telling you that he is good,” he said. “It’s amazing what he does with the minutes he gets. Now he gets a little bit more minutes and he keeps delivering.”
As the 2016-2017 NHL Season progresses, players like Athanasiou will need to continue step up and produce if the Red Wings want any chance to continue their impressive post-season streak.
