Plenty of Red Wings notes in Craig Custance’s latest Full 60 podcast with guest Corey Pronman. Below are the time stamps for the interested Detroit-related discussion.
31:50 – The topic is Quinn Hughes and Custance says “there’s this perception, and I haven’t talked to Jeff Blashill about this, but that Jeff Blashill came back and reported to the Red Wings that he really, really liked him.”
41:22 – Custance askes Pronman if, right now, he would trade Jakob Chychrun for Dennis Cholowski and Filip Hronek. Pronman chooses Chychrun, but implies it’s much closer than it was a year ago because of Hronek’s development.
44:34 – Detroit is on the clock. The entire podcast is basically a mock draft discussion with Pronman making picks based on what he would do, not what he thinks the teams will do. Here’s how the top five looked:
Sabres – Rasmus Dahlin
Hurricanes – Andrei Svechnikov
Canadiens – Filip Zadina
Senators – Quinn Hughes
Coyotes – Jesperi Kotkaniemi
Pronman chooses Oliver Wahlstrom for the Wings.
He doesn’t think Detroit absolutely needs to go defense and says “I look at this team and I don’t really think that forward group is all that elite.” Pronman does go on to mention that he likes Dylan Larkin and Anthony Mantha and believes Michael Rasmussen can be a top six forward, but he selects Wahlstrom because he’s the best player available.
Pronman believes that if Hughes gets to Detroit he should be their pick, but since he’s off the board in this scenario, he went with Wahlstrom. Custance does mention that if the top five actually played out this way, he thinks the Wings would take Bouchard.
