Red Wings Rumblings
This was a couple of days ago, but haven’t had the chance to talk about it since. Sebastian Cossa picked up his first career AHL shutout in a 1-0 win over the Texas Stars Wednesday night. It was one of Detroit’s top prospects, Albert Johansson, who picked up the lone goal.
Cossa will very likely finish out the season with Grand Rapids as they make a push toward the AHL playoffs. We saw him rise above and succeed at the ECHL level, now we’re seeing that same storyline play out in the A. There was a lot of doubt surrounding Cossa, but I think he’s starting to put all of that to sleep with how he has progressed. Between him and Trey Augustine, the Wings appear to have their tandem of the future making its way through the system.
Wings have two prospects in Button’s top-50
Simon Edvinsson checks in at 25, and Axel Sandin-Pellikka lands in the top-10 at 8.
Speaking of ASP, he’s back to SHL play.. and it’s like he never left:
NHL News
Add Houston to the list of cities who are vying for an NHL expansion team. Tilman Fertita, who owns the NBA’s Houston Rockets, told Bloomberg that he believes an NHL franchise will be a key building block for the city.
Policymakers in Utah have a $1 billion legislation in its effort to bring NHL hockey to Salt Lake City:
“A billion dollar piece of legislation that would create an ‘entertainment and sports’ district in Salt Lake City has been filed in the Utah State Legislature.
It is the pathway for a National Hockey League arena. Senate Bill 272, sponsored by Sen. Dan McCay, R-Riverton, would allow Salt Lake City to raise sales taxes to help fund it through a bond.”
