A big stick-tap here for Axel Sandin-Pellikka. He’s doing things not seen since Mattias Öhlund came thru in the 90s. Of course it’s early in the season, but it’s exciting and a little bit nerve wracking to think of what his success could mean for our team. Doubly so if guys like Edvinsson and Wallinder hit their marks as well, and that’s not even considering guys like Johansson, Tuomisto, etc. Hop on the bandwagon now, folks.

All jokes aside, that’s not the worst loss for Ottawa but losing a 19th overall pick with obvious value FOR NOTHING is still not a good look from an asset management standpoint. Young and capable right-shot defenders are at a premium right now.
There’s a lesson here for Yzerman. Valuable assets, especially at positions of need, don’t make it thru waivers. I’m staring directly at a picture of Alex Lyon as I type this.
