Red Wings’ Mike Green feels ‘night and day’ difference after neck surgery | MLive.com
It has been five months since Detroit Red Wings defenseman Mike Green had neck surgery, and the difference is striking.
“It’s night and day,” Green said. “It’s been a long summer recovering, but I feel pretty prepared.”
I wasn’t a fan of the signing, but I am glad to hear that he is healthy going into this season.

Maple Leafs, Lightning deadlocked atop Atlantic Division odds – Sportsnet.ca
As NHL training camps get set to open it remains a tight two-way race atop the odds to win the Atlantic Division, with the Toronto Maple Leafs and Tampa Bay Lightning deadlocked as +150 co-favourites at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.
The Maple Leafs have enjoyed a honeymoon of sorts on the NHL odds since signing free agent centre John Tavares, and also sit with the Lightning as +750 favourites on the Stanley Cup odds.
Hard to argue with those two teams as the favorites in the division. It seems likely that those two and the Bruins are likely to be in the playoffs from the Atlantic. The question is if another team from the Atlantic can win a division spot or a wild card berth.

Hockey humor, one line at a time
Legendary hockey reporter and analyst Stan Fischler will write a weekly scrapbook for NHL.com this season. Fischler, known as “The Hockey Maven,” will share his knowledge, brand of humor and insight with readers each Wednesday.
Growing up in CT, I always had Stan Fischler on my tv screen whenever I watched hockey. There are some pretty funny quotes in here.
