Red Wings Rumblings
Quiet around the Motor City today given the Lions loss in the NFC Championship last night. But on the other side of the state, the Grand Rapids Griffins are making quite ruckus. The Griffs secured a pair of wins at home over the last few days, extending their winning streak to five. That’s been largely thanks to brilliant play from some of Detroit’s most-coveted prospects. Too many to name but the future certainly looks bright.

Patrik Laine to receive care from NHL/NHLPA Assistance Program | TSN
“After careful consideration and discussion with my support network and the team, I have recognized the importance of prioritizing my mental health and well-being,” Laine said in a statement. He’s been in and out of the lineup in Columbus and battling what seems to be constant injury. Hopefully he can get the help he needs.
Former NHLer Alex Formenton will be charged in 2018 Team Canada WJC probe | CTV News
Formenton took leave from his Swiss team last week. He was one of several pro players who took leave ahead of what are expected to be more criminal charges. Police in London, Ontario have planned a news conference for February 5. We’ll learn a lot more then.
