Well, Jeff Blashill’s gone and mixed up the forward lines again. Only this time he says these will be the lines for a while. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see on that. As far as the actual lineup goes, it’s kind of like taking two steps forward but also one or two steps back. Athanasiou’s promotion is good, as is Abdelkader’s demotion. But burying Frk on the fourth line with Glendening and Wilson? That doesn’t strike me as a very logical move.
I get it, the Wings are desperate and they’re going to turn to the players who’ve contributed consistently for them in the past. Frk doesn’t really fit that mold for obvious reasons. But still, you have to wonder how much longer the team is going to be able to look to Zetterberg as their savior. He’s one of the best 37 year-olds I’ve ever seen in the league, but the amount of work he can shoulder is certainly limited.
At any rate, the Panthers are coming into this one having just demolished the Ducks 8-3 on Thursday night. Hopefully they used up all of their goal scoring for this weekend on the Ducks or something. I’m grasping at straws here. Let’s not let the losing streak hit seven games now, please.
