Red Wings Gameday Updates: Lidstrom Talks Recovery

From DetroitRedWings.Com, watch Red Wings‘ captain Nicklas Lidstrom talk to the press about his recovery process, having to watch games on television, and how he continues to handle his captaining duties while sidelined with a deep bone bruise in his ankle. Lidstrom skated today, but he is still Day-to-Day with no set timetable for his return.

Babcock also spoke with the press about the injuries the team continues to face, as well as his coaching stance on where the Wings are as a team right now. I suggest watching the whole thing, but to paraphrase, Babcock essentially says “We need to get over that and simply play better. Nobody’s in the mood to do us any favors.”

Meanwhile, over at Japers’ Rink, your SB Nation site for the Washington Capitals, J.P. points out that the Caps are 24-33-8 on the second night of back-to-back games since the lockout. Rob Parker also has a great writeup on the career year Matthew Perreault is having playing a very simple crash-the-net style of hockey. Perreault is very similar in height and weight to Jiri Hudler, proving that you don’t have to be a big body to make good things happen in dirty areas of the ice.
