Red Wings Red & White Game Streaming Live Today

Today, as the Red Wings break training camp in Traverse City, the team will hold their annual Red & White game before heading back to detroit and starting their exhibition season tomorrow in Pittsburgh. MyFoxDetroit.com will have live streaming coverage today at noon with radio voice Ken Kal doing the play-by-play.

For updated coverage of the Wings’ camp so far, I recommend George Malik’s ongoing fan-as-media look over at Abel to Yzerman.  He’s often been apologetic to a fault to this point, but he’s done a great job of sharing the fan’s perspective and a little behind-the-scenes on how he’s had to transition from a guy with a heavy rooting interest to a professional with a microphone.  His stories are very well-written and packed with excellent information and plenty of links.

For the game today, the white squad will feature the Wings 2nd and 3rd-line combinations of Franzen-Filppula-Bertuzzi and Hudler-Modano-Cleary, as well as the 2nd and 3rd-line D-men pairs with Stuart-Rafalski and Ericsson-Salei. Jimmy Howard plays goal for the White Squad. The Red Squad has the first line of Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Holmstrom, as well as all of the guys fighting for fourth line duties in Ritola, Abdelkader, Helm, Eaves, and Miller. Red is also sporting the Lidstrom-Kronwall pairing playing in front of netminder Chris Osgood (full Red & White rosters available at the MyFoxDetroit.com link above, which also has the link to the live streaming coverage).

FInally, we’ll have our first Game Thread of the season up for tomorrow’s preseason tilt against the Penguins, who seem to be taking the first ever hockey game played at their new Consol Energy Center very seriously, in making sure that Crosby, Malkin, and Orpik play. That post will be up one hour before the 7:00 PM EST game time. Stay tuned! [EDIT: First Game Thread is actually today for the Red & White game, I got excited… happens all the time]
