Red Wings trim Training Camp roster

The Red Wings announced a wave of roster moves Friday afternoon ahead of their last preseason game against Toronto. Here are the details:

Assigned to Grand Rapids

  • Alexandre Doucet (F)
  • Marco Kasper (F)
  • Amadeus Lombardi (F)
  • Albert Johansson (D)
  • Antti Tuomisto (D)
  • Eemil Viro (D)
  • William Wallinder (D)

Players released from Professional Tryout Contract (PTO)

  • Joel L’Esperance (F)
  • Riley Sawchuk (F)
  • Dominik Shine (F)
  • Tyler Spezia (F)
  • Josiah Didier (D)
  • Michael Hutchinson (G)

All players released will return to Grand Rapids. The Griffins have signed Hutchinson to a PTO. The Griffins begin practices in Grand Rapids on Monday ahead of their season opener at Van Andel Arena one week from today.

The Wings now carry 22 forwards, 11 defensemen and four goaltenders. That means the front office will need to trim 14 more players before the regular season gets underway.

The Red Wings will wrap up preseason at home against Toronto Saturday, Oct. 7 and open the regular season Thursday, Oct. 12 on the road against New Jersey.
