Day 1 was a whirlwind of trying to keep up with pictures and videos posted from various sources. Day 2 won’t be much different.
We’ll have a larger set of observations to lead off tomorrow’s Open Thread, courtesy of Kyle Kujawa, but today we are going to stick with a few quick points from Day 1 and then leave everyone to open discussion.
Edvinsson healthy? Simon Edvinsson was not only at Training Camp yesterday, but was on the ice and paired with Jeff Petry. We didn’t see anything specifically stating he had been cleared for contact, but we also didn’t see anything specifically stating he was restricted to no contact. We’re defaulting to “he’s fully cleared” until notified to the contrary.
Preliminary lines are preliminary. There are going to be lots of looks at different combos of guys with all the competition Yzerman has bred thru off-season additions. One of the interesting ones has Berggren on what looks like a 4th line. We aren’t sure that will hold, but it’s something to keep an eye on.
Chiarot absent. The theoretical 7D was notably absent yesterday. Apparently there is a private family issue going on, so thoughts are that he’ll join the team at some point over the next few days. Best of luck to the Chiarot family with whatever is going on.
