Last year, WIIM raised over $2300 for the Concussion Legacy Foundation. This year, we will be raising money and donating to the CLF again.
How It Works:
Each person will select a Red Wings player. For each point that player scores, you will pledge to donate a specific amount of money. For example, let’s say you selected Dylan Larkin and you want to donate $1 per point. If Larkin scores 65 points, at the end of the season you would donate $65 to the charity. More than one person can sign up for a player and you can pledge to donate as little or as much as you want! If the player you selected gets injured or traded, just email me at peteflynn@gmail.com if you would like to switch players for the remainder of the season.
This year, we will again be donating to the Concussion Legacy Foundation. Here is a little about them:
The Concussion Legacy Foundation was founded on June 14, 2007, by Chris Nowinski, Ph.D., and Dr. Robert Cantu. After seeking help from Dr. Cantu for his own post-concussion symptoms, Chris’ view about concussions was completely changed. He discovered he had never been taught the signs and symptoms of a concussion, so he didn’t report them or even know he had them while playing football at Harvard. He wasn’t told the value of resting after a concussion, nor was he warned of the long-term effects. Chris decided to bring the information Dr. Cantu provided him into the public eye, and set a goal to change how concussions were understood and handled in sports.

At the end of the season we will contact you via the email address you provide with the amount that you have pledged to donate based on the number of points the skater scored and the amount you listed on the form. Tweet us at @wingingitmotown with a screenshot of you donating and Prashanth will select a random winner who will receive an authentic Red Wings’ jersey of your choosing! Note: only those that donated a total of $25 or more will be eligible to be selected for the Red Wings’ jersey!
