2015 Red Wings Training Camp Primer

With hockey season on the horizon, NHL teams are readying themselves for their main training camps. The Red Wings, as always, will be having their camp at Centre Ice in Traverse City, Michigan. The point of this article is not really to provide any analysis, or breakdowns of what might happen – But to ask you, the reader, what are you most interested in hearing about? Is there a certain player you want us to keep an eye on? Maybe you want a closer look at how head coach Jeff Blashill is doing with his new team.

Here’s what you need to know:

Now that we have that out of the way, what would you, the reader, the devoted fan like to hear about? I will personally be in attendance doing coverage, and I plan to have sound-bits of interviews from certain players, analysis, reaction, and overall thoughts on the events for each day from Saturday on. We’ll likely be hearing from players like Brad Richards, Mike Green, Henrik Zetterberg, Tomas Tatar, Gustav Nyquist, Petr Mrazek, and the list goes on. Not to mention coaches, and front office staff. I’ll do my best to provide as much as possible, but I would really love to hear what the people want.

Additionally, if you plan on attending this weekend, please feel free to drop us a line. This is a community, and I would really like to setup a possible meet up on Saturday or Sunday after practice takes place. I’ll put up a poll asking if you’re going or not, and if there are a large number planning on attending, I’ll look into organizing a WIIM party, or something.

More from the Red Wings organization:

The Detroit Red Wings today released the 2015-16 training camp schedule, which will commence on Thursday, Sept. 17 with the 16th Annual Training Camp Golf Classic at the Grand Traverse Resort and Spa prior to four days of on-ice practices from Friday, Sept. 18 to Monday, Sept. 21, held at Centre Ice Arena in Traverse City, Mich.

The Red Wings will first participate in the Training Camp Golf Classic, presented by Eitel Dahm Motor Group, on Thursday, Sept. 17, which takes place at the Grand Traverse Resort and Spa at 1:00 p.m. Proceeds from the tournament benefit Involved Citizens Enterprises (I.C.E.), a 501(c)3 non-profit organization providing affordable skating programs in Northern Michigan.

Daily on-ice practices and scrimmages will begin on Friday, Sept. 18 with the first group slated to hit the ice at 9:30 a.m. Red Wings players, prospects and tryouts will be split into three teams – Team Delvecchio, Team Howe and Team Lindsay – as they practice and scrimmage during camp. A full camp roster and team breakdown will be released at a later date.

Camp will wrap up on Monday, Sept. 21 with the annual Red & White Game at 12 p.m. The Red Wings will return to Detroit before traveling to their first pre-season game against the Chicago Blackhawks on Tuesday, Sept. 22 at 8:30 p.m.
