The Red Wings have unveiled goaltender Petr Mrazek’s new mask for the 2016-2017 season. The art was done by the incredible talented Dave Gunnarsson, and the concept was nothing short of spectacular:
The mask features a pencil-sketch-like mural of Red Wings legends such as Steve Yzerman, and Gordie Howe. Not to mention the Joe Louis Arena, which the mask’s concept was based around seeing that this will be the last season in the old barn before they make the move to a new facility.
In my opinion, the mask is gorgeous. The detail is amazing, but I’m not crazy about the half-red, half-white look… I certainly think I’ll be able to get used to it, though.. Outside of that, it’s a great concept, and I love that Gunnarsson included Howe and Yzerman.
