6 wins is great, 7 wins is better. #analysis
The Wings can’t stop winning. Winning games they “deserved” to lose, winning games where they’ve dominated the whole time, just getting the thing done. Lyon’s back in net tonight otherwise not trying to fix something that isn’t broken. Every point is a big one as the Wings look to keep the Bolts in the rearview and have their eye on knocking the Leafs out of third place. Being closer to the magic number than the tragic number is a good feeling.
The Islanders haven’t played since Monday when they beat the Stars in OT. They haven’t been having a very good 2024 and are sitting at 7th in the Metro. But that’s a bit deceiving as 7th and 4th place are only separated by two points. They’re (4-3-3) in their last 10 and do not usually string together multiple wins in a row. They’re doing a lot of playoff math over there, it’s not out of reach yet but a loss tonight will be a blow. Let’s give it to them. Who to watch out for? Well, Barzal won the game for them and looks like the “I’m going to drag this team kicking and screaming” guy.
Oh, don’t forget to hate Patrick Roy today. Still weird that he’s the Islanders’ coach right?
