Well, it’s happening.
On Thursday, the Red Wings officially unveiled its partner for jersey ads: Priority Waste.
According to their website, Priority is “Michigan’s premiere waste management and dumpster company, with the finest garbage disposal and recycling services.”
As you could have guessed, the majority of fans on social media are not pleased with this move. Unfortunately, this is the world we live in. Ads are everywhere and there is no escaping it. A sponsored patch to one of the world’s most iconic jerseys was inevitable unfortunately.
It could have been a lot worse. The video gives a brief preview of what the patch will look like — pretty small crest on the right-side of the chest. Thankfully, there are no clashing colors.
So there you have it. A company that manages your trash is now stitched onto your favorite jersey.
