Lidstrom new member of exclusive club

In last night’s game, Nicklas Lidstrom put a shot on net that rebounded to Tomas Holmstrom. Holmstrom’s goal gave Lidstrom his 800th career assist, the second most among active players.

Lidstrom joined an exclusive a club of only 28 players and 28 of the best players to ever play the game. Lidstrom ranks 6th among defensemen in assists. Ray Bourque leads defensemen 1,169 career assists and Wayne Gretzky leads all players with 1,963–really makes you re-think how great The Great One really was.

In terms of assists with just the Red Wings, Lidstrom ranks 4th:
