Lightning Blog: Raw Charge

The Montreal Massacre is over and it’s on to the Lightning.

Detroit finds itself in a somewhat familiar situation. A few weeks ago the Red Wings had the opportunity to face the Jets and Oilers with both opponents coming to the Joe on the second night of a back-to-back (the Wings lost both games). Tonight against Tampa Bay will be that exact same scenario.

The Lightning took on the Islanders last night in Brooklyn and skated to a 4-0 win. The thing about Tampa is that they’ve alternated wins and losses since the start of November. Which would mean good things tonight. It’s basically guaranteed that the Wings will win and they’re going to work really hard to get their 2 points.

Why will they work really hard? Because Luke Glendening may have worked his way into a top-6 role. Yup. This is not a mistake. Glendening is going to get in on the forecheck and create space for his linemates.

¯_(ツ)_/¯

It will definitely be interesting. A few other lineup notes… Petr Mrazek will start in net and Niklas Kronwall will get the night off. We’ll likely see Ryan Sproul get back on the ice.
