Game Preview

Detroit is 2-2, and they head to Chicago to play a team that hasn’t won in it’s first 4 games. Detroit needs to take advantage of the games against Chicago this season if they hope to improve upon last year’s record.

One obvious thing to look for will be if Jeff Blashill will stick with the new line combinations the team utilized in Tuesday’s win over the Blue Jackets. They seemed promising, although any lines need a few games to start really clicking.

The team finally had some sustained zone pressure on their power play, which led to a goal. While that goal came from a fortunate bounce, that’s not uncommon for a power play that’s doing a good job moving the puck. Detroit’s power play suffers when they don’t move the puck quickly and they are stationary, which we saw in earlier attempts this season.
