Blackhawks blog: Second City Hockey
Yesterday afternoon brought us a classic Red Wings performance laced with disappointment and lethargy as we were thoroughly beaten by the Pens. Someone should have told them bye week was over. Today the Wings are in Chicago for another afternoon match-up, and let’s hope they left the bad hockey in Pittsburgh and bring us something more fun today, maybe even a powerplay goal. Save us Larkin/AA/Mantha.
Blashill confirmed yesterday that Abby and Helm will not be able to play today due to lower-body injuries sustained against the Pens, resulting in the call-up of Dominic Turgeon from Grand Rapids for his NHL debut. Turgeon is a lefty centerman in his second season with Griffins, and at 6’2” and 203 lb he’s bringing that #grit. Good luck, Dom!
The Blackhawks had the day off yesterday after they beat the Jets 2-1 on Friday, with help from their newly acquired forward Anthony Duclair and a stellar performance from goaltender Jeff Glass. Glass will get the start today as well in the Hawks last game before their week off.
Backup goalie? National broadcast? Old rivals? What could go wrong? Somehow this game is going to end up going to OT.
Let’s Go Red Wings!
