Game Preview
Now that the Red Wings are officially eliminated from playoff contention, we can all gear up for the late season win streak and Helene can decide which player she is going to point out is scoring goals after the team has been eliminated (Spoiler: It’s going to be Athanasiou assuming he isn’t traded).
Up first in the new stage of the season is the Calgary Flames. The Flames lost their last game to Boston after building up a 3-1 lead. The Flames had 11 shots on goal through two periods. You know, typical Detroit hockey.
Right now Calgary is in a tight race for the playoffs, currently tied with Arizona with 68 points, although Calgary has 2 games in hand. Nashville sits two points back of the Flames with 2 games in hand on Calgary. It’s a tight race, and Calgary can’t lose the opportunity of taking two points off the worst team in the league, so you imagine they’ll be ready to play.
The Red Wings plan for this game should be to dress every one of their players who could possibly be traded in those inflatable sumo suits. You can never be too careful.
