This is the best move for the team. Nestrasil never lived up to the hype with which he won a spot on the team out of camp. I doubt that he is claimed, and if he is, it is not a major loss. As for Weiss returning, I just want the guy to get some playing time.

The Wings have recalled Xavier Ouellet to replace Smith, who has been placed on short-term IR and is out for at least seven days with his hand infection. The big question is where Jakub Kindl factors in here. He has been a healthy scratch for the past few games, and based off of his play, that scratch has been unwarranted. A trade may be in the works, but, there is no indication of that being the case.

Abdelkader’s play this season has been pleasantly surprising. He is developing into a type of player which I never expected him to become.

I am not calling for the end of the shootout, I doubt the NHL would want ties to return.
