The Roster (for now)– With the Detroit Red Wings most likely finalizing their off-season signings by extending RFA Justin Abdelkader for two more years – the 2010-2011 roster is set…but it won’t be for long. With the Abdelkader signing, Detroit is officially over the Salary Cap and will have to make some moves to become Cap compliant again.
Former Wing Aaron Ward Retires– Aaron Ward, outspoken defenseman who played with the Red Wings from mid 90’s through the turn of the century, has elected to retire as George Malik of Snapshots reports. Ward’s run-ins with Scotty Bowman when the pair was in Detroit has become the thing of legends. Ward won two Stanley Cups with Detroit.
Single game tickets on sale Friday– As DetrotRedWings.com reports: regular season game tickets will be available for purchase on Friday. The season may seem far away, but ticket sales are very, very close. Also announced is the return of the $9 ticket…something I’ve been taking advantage of for years.
