Report: Red Wings’ Ken Holland to become Edmonton Oilers’ new general manager | Detroit News

Ryan Rishaug, an Edmonton-based reporter for TSN, reported Holland could be introduced as the Oilers GM as early as Tuesday.

Holland reportedly met with the Ilitch family Sunday to inform them of his decision.

Holland, 63, will receive a five-year contract with the Oilers, reportedly worth $25 million.

Messages to Holland from The Detroit News on Sunday were not returned.

So does anyone out there actually believe the whole narrative that it was Ken Holland’s idea to bring Steve Yzerman in as Red Wings GM and he willingly moved upstairs to an advisory role?

Because I don’t. It just seems like a nice, little story to help make Holland look good after he was pushed aside and removed from his position for someone better.

Teams with the longest odds include the Detroit Red Wings, Anaheim Ducks and Los Angeles Kings at 80-1. But the longest of the long shots are the lowly Ottawa Senators, who are a massive 300-1.

Never tell me the odds.
