Quick Hits: The Jared McIsaac Injury Edition
In Red Wings Land
Red Wings’ defense prospect Jared McIsaac out 5-6 months (shoulder surgery) | MLive
McIsaac is having the surgery to repair his shoulder capsule. He played through the injury for the majority of the second half of the season.
McIsaac (6-1, 191) will miss Red Wings development camp at Little Caesars Arena later this month as well as Detroit’s training camp in Traverse City in September.
Well, sh*t. That’s a bummer. I guess we won’t be seeing Jared McIsaac in a Red Wings sweater for a long time. Makes it even more impressive that he put up 16 goals and 62 points last season for Halifax considering he played half the year with a bum shoulder. McIsaac had a great postseason run too adding 16 points in 22 playoff games. If he recovers from this setback, the future could be very bright for him.

Craig’s List: Caufield scores his way into Top 5 | TSN
The diminutive sniper took a big leap up TSN Director of Scouting Craig Button’s ranking, finishing the year behind only American centre Hughes (No. 1), Finnish right winger Kakko (No.2) and Vancouver Giants defenceman Bowen Byram (No. 3). Caufield ranked No. 10 in Button’s March list.
This is an interesting ranking. Matthew Boldy rounds out Craig’s top five. Quite a few prospects that we’ve been talking about recently as candidates for Steve Yzerman and the Wings at #6 all land in the double digit territory:
- #10 Alex Turcotte
- #12 Kirby Dach
- #14 Dylan Cozens/
