Quick Hits: Jim Devellano is Mean; Caps top Rangers

Red Wings News

Griffins’ playoff success bodes well for Red Wings’ future | FOX Sports
This should have been a puff piece about the Red Wings’ future players and their success in the AHL, but Devellano’s comments about Anthony Mantha unsurprisingly became the center of attention. You can read uvgt2bkdnme‘s terrific takedown of those comments here.

Red Wings prospect Dylan Larkin is minus-2 but USA beats Russia in World Championship | MLive.com

Also on the prospect front, Dylan Larkin had some uncharacteristic defensive lapses, but Team USA prevailed over a loaded Russian squad.

Detroit Red Wings’ Mike Babcock, Ken Holland have ‘nice talk’ | Detroit Free Press
Despite his post-series comments which appeared to indicate otherwise, Babcock is not yet on his way out the door. Babcock is under contract through June 30, but Holland thinks they will know one way or the other some time in the month of May. We’ll obviously be keeping a close eye on this.

Griffins’ Blashill waits in Wings for NHL opportunity | Detroit News

NHL News

A Braden Holtby shutout! Jay Beagle with the game’s only goal! The playoffs! Now excuse me while I go cry myself back to sleep.

Kerry Fraser indicates NHL refs will punish Brandon Prust, avenge Brad Watson | Puck Daddy – Yahoo Sports
Brandon Prust is a dumbass, both for his petulant postgame outburst (which may or may not be true) and for the dense defense of his own self-worth he penned in The Player’s Tribune earlier this year. But I definitely have a problem with Fraser’s confirmation that officials hold grudges, even if it’s something we knew to probably be true.

Ryan Getzlaf, Andrew Ladd, Jonathan Toews Mark Messier NHL Leadership Award finalists – 2015 NHL Awards
Three players were nominated for this fake award, and history tells us you will win it upon your third nomination. So congratulations, Jonathan!

Ray Shero named general manager of New Jersey Devils; Lou Lamoriello still president – NHL.com – News
Hahahahahahahahaha. Sorry, it’s just that … LOL … The Devils hired Ray Shero to be their GM! Hey, remember that time that Lou Lamoriello fired his head coach and replaced him with three of them, one of which was himself? This might be dumber.
